Task Exercise #1
Layers
You will create an composition using three separate images. You will open three images and cut (Ctrl + X) and paste (Ctrl + V) them into different layers. Select one layer to flip horizontally (Image>Rotate> Flip Layer Horizontal). Select one layer to flip vertically (Image>Rotate> Flip Layer Vertical). Once you erase and have your layers how you want them—flatten the image. Make sure you save the image as a Photoshop file to keep the layers, if you are still working with it—and—a JPEG when finished. Save image as task exercise 1.
Assessment:

  • 3 layers
  • 3 different images
  • Layer flipped horizontal
  • Layer flipped vertical
  • Layer flipped vertical

Task Exercise #2
Layers, Filters
Select an interesting picture from assignment one, “Composing an Image”, to manipulate in Photoshop. You will open the picture in Photoshop and create at least three duplicate layers. You will experiment with filters on each layer. All three layers will have a different effect. Omit parts of each layer and combine them into one image. Make sure you save the image as a Photoshop file to keep the layers, if you are still working with it—and—a JPEG when finished. Save image as task exercise 2.

Assessment:

  • 3 layers
  • 3 different filters
